Tab Launcher App Reviews

Works Great

This is an updated review. Previously I had issues with the app locking up, forcing me to quit out of the app then restart it. The latest updates appear to have rectified this issue. As of right now, the app works exactly as advertised, and it’s helping me to keep a tidier desktop. Exactly what I needed.

I LOVE IT! BUY IT NOW BEFORE THEY UP THE PRICE.

Where has this developer been all my life! Finally the dock nighmares are solved. A few minor bugs but otherwise it works great. When playing some games in full screen mode, Tab launcher crashes when coming out of full gaming mode. Otherwise its works just fine. If this happens to you, just restart tab launcher and all will be good. The only bug Ive found in a week of using this great program. .

Eh….

Ive been using Overflow for a few years and it is less obtrusive than Tab Launcher…since you still have to deal with the dock anyway--it would be different if it eliminated the dock. Id have to say its a neat idea but it needs some polish in the GUI. Tabs are spaced at odd increments and dont automatically come in gramattical order. Ill stick with overflow and keep my eye on updates to see if the Tab Launcher gets any better.

Great for power users

I do audio mixinbg and mastering, graphic design, and web development work so I regularly use a large number of applications. Ive got nine tabs set up with about a dozen apps in each tab. For me Tab Launcher is a far better solution than either the Dock or Launchpad.

glitchy and unstable

When you open an app from the dock, the tabs on tab launcher become mis-aligned. One tab drops down from others (if at top of screen) and you have to mouseover the tab to get it to move back into alignment. Nice app otherwise, but constant out-of-line tabs ruin it for me - will stop using it until this issue is fixed.

Hate this application!! It completely geeked up my system

I thought I would love this…but I installed it and then found that it completely screwed up my display. The application would not let my system recognize the display size and kept defaulting to a lower resolution…watch out for this! I had to completely uninstall it to get my display to work correctly again.

Lots of problems

I thought this app would be as amazing as it looked. I was wrong. There is a big bug in the dock with ical. It is January 8 and the date is dsiplayed as July17. The Mail app also donest show the little red number above it to signify how many new e-mails you have. Same with updates on the app store. I wouldnt spend money for this until those bugs are fixed. Please fix these issues I find it hard to believe these things were overlooked, thats unnacceptble.

Great little utility

Infinitely adjustable to your taste. I use it now instead of the dock which was getting crowded. Tab Launcher is nestled out of the way at the lower right (but you can put it where you like). As others have said, if it could completely replace Apples dock, that would be great (would need the Finder in Tab Launcher). Opened up space on my 23" screen so it must be a great space saver on MacBooks.

Screwed up a perfectly good app

I found this app absolutely wonderful. I tend to stick to free apps for everything, but this was worth paying for. HOWEVER I wish I hadnt now that the latest version is Lion-only. I was extremely disappointed to find that out.

Wow!

This launcher completely replaces Dock for me! SOOOOO convenient, and you can mix .jar files with applications! Thats really important to me. Point is, great Dock replacement. I like the separate "Running" apps. Very convenient!

Files Gone POOF

I loved this app to clean up my desktop. One HUGE problem, once you go to drag your file to the desktop it dessapears!!!! Where did it go? I cant find them anywhere. Does anyone know how to get them back?

Its decent.

It functions ok but setup is time consuming and frustrating. You have to set each tabs icon size and spacing using sliders which makes consistency across tabs nearly impossible. Also tabs dont seem to hold their sizes. I have a tab with 4 icons that is 3 times as long as a tab that contains 9 icons, yet they have apparantly the same settings in preferences. Hopefully the developer does some tweaking to the code and improves the UI because this app has potential.

Stoped working in Mac OS 10.6.8

This was a great app I used for months, but suddenly has no support for Mac OS 10.6.8. If only I could kept the last version that worked in my computer...

Needs Snow Leopard Updates

This is a good application, but it needs to include Snow Leopard updates as well as Lion.

Excellent Utility

TabLauncher allows you to configure this app in several ways to suit your taste and working style. Tabs can be sized, colored and arranged in any order that you choose. Were using TabLauncher in Lion OS X as an adjunct to Apples Dock, which has been reduced to Finder and Trash. Although bugs listed by John Klecker are valid, they are minimal when you consider the usefulness of grouping apps into tabs. Customer support is commendable - rapid response and easy to follow directions for correcting problems. Definitely recommend this app for users who like to keep multiple apps organized and quickly available for use. D-B Hudson

Its pretty good for organization, but some things need to be changed...

like the fact that the icons will not center in the tab. my adobe create suite apps are all on the left, not the centered. also why is it so HUGE. it is about twice the size of my dock. as for the fact that you still have to use the dock. i used Onyx and had the dock pushed the the bottom left. that what it is out of the way. hopefully when the update is approved by apple (i read that on their website) it will fix some of the issues people are talking about.

Excellent support!

Not that the app needs support. I submitted a few feature requests and got a thoughtful response from the author. Theyre very passionate about improving this app and your overall Mac productivity experience. The app is great now, and I exect it to become even greater!

I Quickly come dependant on it, makes filing a breeze

Which is all more frustraing when it quietly crashes and I realize its not there when I need it sometime. I can appreciate the amount of complextiy this program involves and the crashes are understandable. Its a great product with features I couldnt imagine were possible in allowing so many customized options. I look forward to the refinement. Its so nice that the crashes do not nearly bother me over the usefullness in the current version. It always reboots back up with no apparent damages to the setups or any other items.

Stupid!

So I had to reinstall Snow Leopard on my mac and I went to re-install my AppStore applications. Now I find that I cannot install TabLauncher cos it requires Lion and I cannot install Lion on my office mac. Awesome!

Nice Little App

Tab Launcher is a nice little app to help you organize access to your installed applications. If you have very many apps installed and youd like a good way to organize quick access to them, then this program is for you!
